Under standards set by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), all workplaces where employees are exposed to a noise level of 85 decibels or higher over an 8-hour work shift are required to have a hearing conservation program. Workplaces that commonly fall into this category include construction sites, industrial operations, and factories.
The Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center is pleased to offer OSHA-compliant audiological screenings. Companies can choose one of two methods for screening their employees:
1. We Come to You
We have a mobile unit fully-equipped with an audiological booth that is available for hearing testing on-site in the noisiest of environments such as industrial and aviation centers.
You provide only a power source and employees for us to screen. We travel to your location. Approximately 200 employees can be tested during an average workday. This option allows workers to be off the job for a minimal amount of time, without disruption to their regular schedules.
2. You Send Employees to Us
You can also arrange for employees to visit us on their own schedules. The Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center is conveniently located near the confluence of I-10 and I-95. Our location features ample free parking and access to bus lines 4, 22, and 307.
Once testing is completed, our Audiology Team will send the results with a notation for employees who have experienced noteworthy changes from the previous year, and, if requested, recommendations for employees who should be re-tested.
Make-up and re-tests can be performed either on-site or at our facilities on 1010 N. Davis Street. It is strongly recommended that all new workers undergo a baseline hearing screening upon employment.
