What is telehealth?
Are you an audiology patient in need of hearing aid troubleshooting, fitting, or orientation? If so, you may be able to receive treatment by a licensed audiologist from the comfort of your home! Telehealth is the ability to receive select health care services remotely.
You no longer have to drive to your health care provider. You can have them meet you wherever you are through Internet-capable devices like laptops, computers, cell phones and tablets. With the growing popularity of telehealth, health care providers have a variety of digital resources that enable them to remotely connect with and care for their patients.
Receive Care from a Certified Telepractice Specialist
Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center (JSHC) is proud to be the first speech and hearing center in Florida to certify its staff in teletherapy through the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).
To earn Telepractice Certification, staff underwent comprehensive training on how to create a conducive teletherapy environment, protect patients’ online privacy, troubleshoot technological issues, and remotely collaborate with patients and their families. This certification also makes our team uniquely qualified to provide online care to patients with special needs that is in-compliance with the IDEA, Section 504, and the ADA.
By receiving virtual care from a Board Certified Telepractice Specialist, patients are able to receive the same quality care that they would otherwise receive in-office from the comfort of their homes.

Receive A Remote Audiology Evaluation
An audiology evaluation is essential for your hearing health because it’s the baseline that enables your audiologist to appropriately diagnose the type, degree, and origin of your hearing loss. Without this test, it’s impossible for your audiologist to create an individualized treatment plan that appropriately addresses your unique communication needs.
Recent developments in HearX technology now provide a new way for patients to receive contactless care at our clinic during COVID-19. Thanks to a HearX system in one of our treatment rooms, you can simply walk into the room during your scheduled appointment, conduct your hearing test privately, and leave after only having brief in-person contact with staff to drop off your insurance card and ID for scanning!
When your audiologist has reviewed your hearing test, they’ll develop an appropriate treatment plan and work with our Benefits Coordinator to see what your insurance covers. After all of the information is compiled, someone from our Audiology Team will reach out to you to discuss your results and recommended treatment.

Receive Curbside Services
In addition to audiology telehealth services, curbside service is available on Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am-10:00 am and 2:00 pm-4:00 pm! This service is for drop-offs, repairs, tube changes, pick-ups and supply purchasing.
